Today is January 23 and I’m checking in.
I worked hard to lose 4 kilos but I’m now back to square one.
I’ve gained more than 3 kilos and I’m almost 69 kilograms. Zero point 4 grams away from my original weight.
Well, to be precise, my biggest was 72. But, I didn’t start documenting at 70 kilograms.
I will not count calories, but I do have a fair idea now on how much I am overeating.
If you haven’t tried calorie counting yet, you need to start if you want to lose weight. You don’t realize how much you are overeating. Read calorie counting to lose weight.
I didn’t realize that even a single snack could push me over the border. However, I enlisted some help. In the form of supplements.
This month I will be trying Healthful Papa’s Green Coffee Extract with 50% GCA.
My baseline are the following:
Weight: 69 kilograms
Body fat: 33%
I feel so bad just typing those figures.
Let’s stop feeling sorry for ourselves and let’s get things done!
To get the real benefit of the green coffee extract, I have to be on it for at least 4 weeks. This study shows post-menopausal women enhancing fat loss during exercise with a green coffee extract supplementation.

It’s also great for reducing total cholesterol levels. A cross-sectional study of green coffee extract states that it’s a great alternative to statins.

Which is great because my cholesterol is very high. I’ve never actually had a normal cholesterol count. It’s always been high. The highest would be 10 mmol/liter if I remember correctly.
The doctor had me do an ECG test because it was so high. Because I couldn’t reduce my cholesterol through diet and exercise, my doctor put me on an antihyperlipidemic agent or statins.
And you know how they tell you that once you’re on statins, you’ll never be off it. Well, it’s true as I gained the cholesterol back when I stopped.
I lowered my cholesterol to safe levels only to get it as high as 8 after a year. I want a better solution other than statins.
Furthermore, there are certain people who can’t tolerate statins or cholesterol-lowering drugs. The following are common side effects on statins:
- feeling sick
- feeling unusually tired or physically weak
- digestive system problems, such as constipation, diarrhea, indigestion, or farting
- muscle pain
- sleep problems
- low blood platelet count

So, green coffee extract is a great alternative to statins as research indicates.

If you’re new here, you can watch my boring videos on Youtube. I went over my holiday weight gain and what I’ll be using to help me get rid of the extra fat I put on.
Weight loss journey month 5, week 4
January 28, 2021
It’s a little early for check-in, but I want to share what I experienced taking the supplement. In particular, the Green Coffee Extract with 50% GCA.
I haven’t had any side effects while taking the supplement other than sweating more than usual when I work out.
I cleaned the house this morning after downing one capsule, and I was sweating profusely. It was a chilly 19-degree celsius morning.
I will be going to the doctors tomorrow to get some blood work done to get a baseline on my cholesterol, blood sugar, and any vitamin deficiencies. I really should have done it a week ago.
For now, I didn’t do any cardio today and certainly haven’t been watching what I ate.
The last couple of weeks, my sugar and fat intake went through the roof. Damn those irresistible cheesecakes and Uncle Tetsu’s cheese tart is just so yum. My weaknesses.
Friday, January 29
I started feeling sick yesterday. My nose was a leaking tap of clear mucus none stop.
Well, today is much better. I don’t have to stick a tissue up my nose to stop the leak.
I went to the doctor’s office today and got my bloodwork done. The funny thing was, the nurse couldn’t get the vein, so she had to jab me twice. She was very apologetic.
I should get my results in 2 days. I will be posting my baseline measurements soon. I’m expecting the worst.
Sunday, January 31
I haven’t had the chance to grab my test results. Also, my weigh-in was a disappointment. I didn’t lose or gained weight. It stayed the same at 69 kilograms.
However, I got my body used to the Green Coffee extract by taking it only once a day. I’ve started taking it twice now since it has been a week.
Tomorrow will be the start of month 6 of my weigh loss journey. Hopefully, it’s also the start of dropping kilos like flies. I will be updating the blog whenever I can.
See you at month 6.
