What is Masszymes?

what is masszymes
What is Masszymes?

The problem with protein is that our body cannot absorb all of it in our bloodstream. And, too much protein can lead to cancer and diseases.

In a collective review of protein, a study tries to put together a guide to how much protein our body can process per meal.

The study concludes that 1.6 grams per kg of body weight are the perfect number for muscle building.

However, this is not an iron-clad number or set in stone. Other studies support 2.2 grams per kg of body weight is needed for mass gain. And other studies that more than 2.8 grams of protein are required. I know, confusing, right?

Here’s the mindblowing part, evidence suggests that some of the protein digested do not reach their destination. Instead, it gets wasted down the drain or used for something else.

Even with all the Scientific journals available, there is no definitive answer to the optimal number to which our body can absorb protein in one meal.

Hence, the 2.2 grams of protein per kg of body weight may not be ideal because half of it is going down the drain.

[source: How much protein can the body use in a single meal for muscle-building? Implications for daily protein distribution]

What can you do to absorb all the protein, so you don’t waste your money?

Listen to this other study. Participants were divided into two groups. One group drank protein powder, and the other group drank protein with enzymes. Guess which group absorbed the most protein? The group who drank protein with enzymes.

[source: An open-label study to determine the effects of an oral proteolytic enzyme system on whey protein concentrate metabolism in healthy males]

One thing for sure is that our body has a limit to how much protein we can absorb. But, what if your body can digest all the protein you eat or drink in every meal?

Would you still need 2.2 grams of protein per kg of your bodyweight? What if you can absorb all the protein instead of it going down the sewer? Won’t that cut your protein needs in half?

Masszymes is a digestive enzyme aimed at breaking down proteins, so your body absorbs more of it into your bloodstream.

In turn, you are improving your recovery time and muscle building without the need for a massive amount of protein. To top it off, Masszymes improve digestive issues such as bloating and gas.

What’s wrong with having too much protein?

You may be wondering, so what if I am taking too much protein? I’m not going to lie; I asked the same question.

An article was reviewing all the research on the adverse effects of overeating protein. Too much protein is eating above the recommended amount of 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight per day.

The following are negative impacts of a high protein, high meat diet:

  • Bone loss and hip fracture
  • Problems with kidneys
  • Increased cancer risk
  • Disorders of liver function
  • Heart disease

The review concluded that a high protein diet is useless or even harmful for healthy individuals.

Many people are taking too much protein supplements and do not worry about the risks or do not know. I am the latter. I had no idea that too much protein was harmful.

I always had this belief that protein is better than carbs or fat. Too many carbs can make you fat, and fats can clog your arteries. And eating lots of protein is more beneficial—what a load of BS.

Now, I know better. Extra protein is not used efficiently by the body. And, too much protein may even cause kidney and liver disease.

Moreover, high meat diet is associated with an increased risk of heart attacks or even cancer.

How does Masszymes work?

Masszymes contains protease, which helps breakdown protein to improve muscle protein synthesis.

In turn, better muscle protein synthesis reduces strength loss and boosts short term strength recovery while training.

[source: Effects of a protease supplement on eccentric exercise-induced markers of delayed-onset muscle soreness and muscle damage]

You might be thinking that you can just buy digestive enzymes anywhere, but this is where people go wrong, even me.

I tried digestive enzymes before, and the result was disappointing. Even doubling the recommended dosage didn’t help. I don’t recommend changing the dosage, by the way.

Masszymes recognizes the low-quality problem with enzyme supplements, and I quote Wade Lightheart (more on Wade later):

“They need to be loaded with protease… protease is THE most critical enzyme for protein digestion — and as you just learned, only enzymes can convert protein into the amino acids your body needs for energy, mood, fat-burning metabolism, strength, and more.
Protease is also the most expensive enzyme to produce, and there are several kinds of protease enzymes.
Most formulations are stuffed with cheap amylase (digests carbohydrates) and low quality lipase (digests fats)… while protease tends to be low in both quality and quantity.”

Wade Lightheart

There you have it, no wonder the cheap digestive enzymes I bought was not effective in reducing my bloating and gas after drinking 30 grams of protein powder.

You don’t have to believe Wade or me. You can try the enzymes at your local vitamin shop yourself. And if it works for you, kudos. After all, everyone is different.

So, recognizing the hole in the market, so to speak, and wanting to use for himself, Wade found an opportunity. Wade created the best digestive enzymes on the market that are loaded with protease.

After many years, Masszymes have evolved from original Masszymes to the current offering, Masszymes 3.0.

Masszyme 3.0 review

What is the difference between the old Masszymes and the new Masszymes 3.0? Masszymes 3.0 contains additional ingredients, Panax ginseng, and Astragalus.

Essentially, these two ingredients’ main job is to deliver every nutrient to your bloodstream unharmed, untouched, and almost complete. I say almost because the gauntlet in our stomach is impossible to pass without getting damaged.

According to Masszymes, the nutrients absorbed with Pansang ginseng and Astragalus are 66% more.

Masszymes trademarked this bioavailability process and aptly named it Astrazymes. So, combining Astrazymes with an already powerful protein-digesting enzyme makes Masszymes 3.0 even more potent and provide significantly more benefits compared to the original.

Masszymes 3.0 Ingredients

Astrazyme (proprietary blend of Pansang ginseng and Astragalus)

As mentioned before, Astrazyme is the perfect blend of Pansang ginseng and Astragalus to create better absorption of nutrients.

My Masszymes review

If you are in the same situation as me, an endomorph body type, and a vegan, you know it can be hard to build muscle and get a decent amount of protein.

I never thought that I’d be buying enzymes again. Let me explain.

I tried enzymes before. I know that protein synthesis is essential in building muscles, and enzymes play a crucial role. So, I bought some digestive enzymes at the vitamin shop.

The cost wasn’t cheap nor expensive. It was in the middle.

I was on it for three months, but I don’t think my body was digesting or breaking down protein properly because I have not gained a centimeter of muscle on my biceps at all.

I gave up on enzymes and bought more proteins instead, which I shouldn’t have done because all of it was just wasted down the drain and is not very healthy. I may as well have flushed the money down the toilet bowl myself.

Buying tons of protein powders more than doubled my protein intake, but why wasn’t I gaining lean muscle mass?

I was working out hard in the gym. My calorie surplus was 500 calories a day. So, what was I doing wrong?

The only thing I could think of was me lacking digestive enzymes to break down the protein.

I was drinking protein powder three times a day, and I was getting more than the recommended amount to build muscle, lots more.

Yet, I only felt bloated and was going to the toilet more often. But I tried digestive enzymes already, what else is there?

So, I did as any tech-savvy vegan would do. I went to Google and searched digestive enzymes for vegans.

It came out with the same enzymes I bought last time. All the products contained the same amount of enzyme as the bottle I used last. So, I would be buying the same but a different brand.

Then one day, I was scrolling through my Facebook feed, and I saw someone posted a digestive enzyme called Masszymes in a Facebook group.

What got me to click was this message, “contains more enzyme than any other digestive products on the planet.”

Woah! How much enzyme does Masszymes contain? And after what seemed hours of reading the product page, it dawned on me. Maybe the problem with digestive enzyme products is the number of enzymes they contain.

According to Masszymes, their product has 102% more than the other digestive enzymes in the market.

Well, that’s quite impressive. At this point, I was ready to try Masszymes. But, I dug a little more before giving them my hard-earned money.

Who is behind Masszymes?

Bioptimizers produce Masszymes—a company located in Reno, Nevada, specializing in health and nutrition.

Bioptimizers President is Wade Lightheart.

“3-Time Canadian Natural Bodybuilding Champion, Wade Lightheart, is one of the world’s premier authorities on Natural Nutrition and Training Methods. Having majored in Sports Science at the University of New Brunswick, he has authored numerous books on health, nutrition, and exercise which have sold in over 80 countries. Wade is sought out by athletes and high-performance oriented individuals worldwide for his advice on how to optimize their health and fitness levels.”

Bioptimimers’ CEO is Matt Gallant.

“Matt Gallant is the CEO of BiOptimizers and has a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. He’s been a strength and conditioning coach for multiple pro-athletes, a self-defense instructor, and has over 10 years experience formulating supplements. Fun fact: Matt’s been playing guitar and keyboards for over 19 years… and recorded a hard rock CD when he was young and angry.”

It’s great to see that people behind the company know what they are talking about and have experience in the field.

What’s interesting is how a vegan, Wade Lightheart, won 3 Canadian Natural Bodybuilding contest.

Now, I’ve recently turned flexitarian. Essentially, I’m a semi-vegetarian.

And I find that getting protein in my diet from untouched natural sources is tough. I’m only getting 79 grams of protein on a vegetarian diet.

However, Wade Lightheart mentions that he’s been building his lean muscle with only 80 grams of protein.

That’s when I took out my credit card and bought a bottle of Masszymes. The biggest mistake of my life!

After a day on this supplement, I never got bloated or ran to the toilet when I drank my leftover protein powder.

I should have bought more!

Doh!

I just ordered more and had my bottles auto shipped to me every month. Hopefully, I will get them soon.

The plan is to stop buying protein powders and finish the remaining tub. I will be relying on Masszymes to do its job to build lean muscles without a massive amount of protein. Stay updated!

UPDATE: I received Masszymes, very quickly, may I add. You can watch me take Masszymes below. Also, I am in the process of losing weight. You won’t see any muscle gains for now. Have to wait until I lose this belly fat first.

Masszymes side effects

I didn’t feel any side effects while taking Masszymes. There was one time when I had the runs after having breakfast. I took Masszymes right after my breakfast and not before. I don’t know if Masszymes had anything to do with the loose motions.

Since Masszymes are digestive enzymes, there are side effects. The following are just some of them:

  • nausea
  • diarrhea
  • abdominal cramping
  • headache
  • neck pain
  • nasal congestion
  • swelling of the legs and feet
  • rash
  • dizziness
  • low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
  • high blood sugar (hyperglycemia)
  • diabetes mellitus exacerbation
  • gas (flatulence)
  • indigestion
  • biliary tract stones
  • abnormal feces
  • fluid in the gallbladder
  • renal cyst
  • viral infection
  • asthma
  • inflammation of the stomach (gastritis)
  • muscle spasm
    [source: RX List Digestive Enzymes]

RxList advises that there could be more adverse effects and asks to check with your physician if you want to start taking digestive enzymes.

According to the Bioptimizers support site, they advise that some people may experience diarrhea, stomach aches, or loose stools.

They go on to explain why and assures that the symptoms doesn’t last long. If it does last longer, Bioptimizers advises to lower the dosage and increase it over time.

They warn that if you keep getting the side effects, you should see your GP or health professional.

For some people, when they first start taking our products, they may experience symptoms like stomach aches or loose bowels. The reason for this reaction is that the supplements are removing various levels of bio-films from the intestinal tract, which might have built up over the years. These symptoms shouldn’t last very long. But if need be, you can lower the dosages of each product and slowly increase the amount over time. But if you continue to have these symptoms, please stop taking the products and schedule a health check up with your GP or Naturopathic Doctor.

Masszymes 12-week course

Additionally, when you purchase your first bottle or bottles of Masszymes, you get their 12-week course to “Bioptimize” yourself.

Honestly, I’ve forgotten about this course by Masszymes. But, it’s worth a read to guide you on how to incorporate Masszymes into your daily routine.

Who is Masszymes for?

Going by experience, the following list is who I think should buy Masszymes:

  • People who want to build muscles.
  • Save money on protein powders.
  • Lactose intolerant.
  • Vegetarians.

Based on my experience, I believe Masszymes is for people who don’t want to waste their money on protein powders that will eventually go down the toilet.

I’ve spent on protein powders for more than a decade, and I know how it can be costly.

And in light of the current research by the smart Scientists of the world, 0.4 grams to 0.55 grams per kilogram of body weight each meal four times a day is how much protein you need to build lean muscle mass.

So, if I weighed 69 kg, my protein intake per meal should be limited to 27.6 grams of protein or 37.95 grams of protein per meal in 4 meals. That’s a lot of protein.

Menshealth seems to think so too and recommend that you look at the total amount of protein for the day, not the amount of protein per seating.

[source: How much protein can your body absorb in one sitting?]

The evidence suggests that not all protein ingested are digested and may end up in the toilet due to poor absorption.

Therefore if all the protein were appropriately absorbed, you wouldn’t need so much protein in your system to build muscles.

So, unless you are absorbing all of the proteins you are ingesting and spending an ungodly amount of dollars on protein powders, you may as well throw your money away.

Also, Masszymes helped my bloating and indigestion problems.

Before taking Masszymes, I used to get bloated after a protein shake. And, drinking two large cups of coffee can send me to the bathroom, making disgusting noises.

But now, I can eat a whole cheesecake, drink five large cups of lattes, and never rush to the toilet plugging my butt with my hand.

Masszymes for vegans

masszymes for vegan
Masszymes for vegan?

If you’re a vegan, then you should buy Masszymes. The problem I find being a vegan is the limited amount of protein sources available. Building lean muscle mass on a vegetarian diet can be tough.

Moreover, proteins from plants are not easily digestible compared to animal proteins.

[source: The Role of the Anabolic Properties of Plant- versus Animal-Based Protein Sources in Supporting Muscle Mass Maintenance: A Critical Review]

However, if Masszymes can break down these hard to absorb proteins from plants, you can build muscle mass better than your meat-loving counterpart. And your body won’t need much protein, saving you money.

Masszymes 3.0 reviews on Amazon

To my delight, I found plenty of reviews on Amazon from real users. Masszymes have garnered many positive reviews from Amazon, scoring a notable 4.5 stars in 164 customer ratings.

Verified buyers echoed the same thing as what I was saying and more. Things like it stopped their bloating, and lactose tolerance went away.

Some are even saying that it helped with pancreatic cancer and improved their gut flora. There are also others saying that their mood, energy, IBS, digestion have improved. And many more…Just take a look at these reviews from verified users:

“… I’m so happy I discovered this product. I believe enzymes can help with all manner of problems, and you cannot take too many. The recommended dosage is based on a healthy 150-pound male. Once your body uses the enzymes to break down and digest food, the body will put any excess to work in other places. I researched Enzymes when my dad was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. We started him on megadoses of BiOptimizers Masszymes, along with probiotics. He lived twice as long as doctors thought he would. Excruciation abdominal pain and trouble eating solid food is typical with Stage IV Pancreatic cancer. Dad ate up until a few days before he died, and he never experienced pain at all. Several other family members have had acid and bloating issues and were taking acid reducers. Since stomach acid declines as we age, there is no need for people to take acid reducers, in fact they do more harm then good. We stopped the acid reducers and started taking Masszymes & probiotics daily to help maintain healthy gut flora.”

[source: Masszymes review Mr. Leslie M. Hudson]

“I am extremely impressed with this product. I did my research before purchasing these enzymes and I can confidently say that there are no other digestive enzyme complexes that gives you the full spectrum that Masszymes offers.
I had two reasons for purchasing this product. Firstly to take with my protein shake post workout to support my body in more efficiently converting the protein to amino acids and then also enhancing the rate of absorption. Secondly, to have more energy after my evening meal… I had been feeling rather fatigued after the last meal of the day. After taking this product for a week I can happily report that my muscles are feeling leaner and more conditioned and I have boundless energy after my evening meal. Put simply, I’m feeling great!
My wife noticed the positive changes in me and decided to experiment for herself. She has been lactose intolerant for many years suffering from bloating and pain after consuming any dairy products. Short storey – she took 2 capsules 30 mins before having her favourite halloumi cheese and 2 capsules straight after… she never suffered from any pain or bloating. In her own words, “miraculous”! My wife now intends to travel with these whenever we go on holiday or to new restaurants – truly life changing for her.
I can not recommend this product enough. My wife and I will now be life long customers!”

[source: Russel]

“I happily have taken Masszymes for a few years, both with food and on an empty stomach before bed to get a cleansing detox overnight. Their overall higher dosage seems true after I compared amounts in several other popular enzyme formulas. For some months I took three bottles a month for accelerated cleansing, but now I am on the maintenance dose of one bottle a month. I plan to use Masszymes for years to come. The company’s customer service is top-notch.”

[source: Mary]

“I’ve been using this product for over 3 years now and don’t plan to quit—There are no more bloated feelings after a heavy meal and these really aid in regularity.”

[source: Ruthie]

“I was using different types of antacids almost every night. This was about 3 years ago so I starting searching for solutions because of the health risk from taking over the counter and prescription meds. I came upon BiOptimizers Masszymes and their other product P3OM. Each one of these products are good alone but when taken together look for amazing results. No more antacids or bloating along with overall better health. I love steak, pizza, and most carbs, so I take both products before a meal even in a restaurant and bam total digestion with no return visits from the meal hours later like before. They even travel with me. I have 3 bottles of each in the pantry and just ordered 5 more of the Masszymes. 10 star product!!!!”

[source: Verified purchase]

“So I’ve been taking this product for almost two weeks and have noticed a difference. Stomach cramping have stopped, going to the bathroom regularly, I’m starting to feel like my self again. Have more energy and able to do more after work.”

[source: Syl Leve]

“These enzymes are the best, I love the BioOptimizer brand. Everything I’ve tried of theirs has been great quality. Since taking these I’ve had an insane boost in energy, which is huge for me. I’ve struggled with fatigue for a few years now, these have helped tremendously. They are pricey, but worth it.”

[source: Kristen Park]

“The best enzyme product I have ever used, it literally breaks down everything, fats, carbs. sugars, and protein. I have liver and digestive issues, but still enjoy meat every now and then. This product is the only thing that has worked for me. Five stars.”

[source: verified Amazon customer]

“Ive been told that I need to rework my microbiome in my gut. Two months in these are working miracles. No more unexpected diarrhea!”

[source: IBS sufferer]

“Fantastic product. On my second bottle and can tell a huge difference in digestion, elimination. I follow a higher fat/protein and moderate to low carb lifestyle and can feel a difference in many ways. Thankful to have come across this product and the quality.”

[source: Game changer]

“These work extremely well for my family. We are all gluten intolerant.”

[source: These work well!]

“Wow what a product! Read and study , they did their homework for this product—- thank you very very much”

[source: What we all need]

There are many, many more positive reviews which I won’t bombard you with. You can check them all out yourself when you have the chance.

To summarize though, the following is what the verified users of Masszymes have benefitted:

  • Improved pancreatic cancer symptoms.
  • Improved IBS.
  • Eliminated bloating.
  • Stayed regular.
  • Improved digestion.
  • Improved gluten tolerance.
  • Helped with joint pain and swelling.
  • Better mood.
  • More energy.

Of course, it’s not all good and dandy. Although the vast majority (90%) of users loved it, some didn’t have a positive experience. This just goes to show, everyone is different, and results will vary.

Is Masszymes FDA approved?

is masszymes fda approved
Masszymes FDA approved?

FDA does not regulate supplements. Masszymes is a supplement; therefore, the FDA has no say in the matter.

“Dietary supplements, in general, are not FDA-approved. Under the law (Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994), dietary supplement firms do not need FDA approval before marketing their products. It is the company’s responsibility to make sure its products are safe and that any claims are true.”

[source: Dietary supplements and FDA]

All the supplements on the market do not need FDA approval. It’s easier for companies to put supplements on the shelf than FDA taking them off.

Therefore, if you see FDA approved on a supplement bottle, that is a marketing tactic to make you buy.

How to take Masszymes

how to take masszymes
How to take masszymes

As per Masszymes instructions on the back of the bottle, the following is how to take Masszymes:

  • Take 3 capsules with each meal.
  • May take 1 – 3 capsules per meal.
  • You can also take 1 – 2 capsules between meals.

I take three capsules for two meals and two for one meal. Confused? For example, I take three capsules for breakfast and lunch. Then I take two capsules for dinner. That makes up eight capsules in one day. When I take eight in a day, one bottle of Masszymes will last me a month, 31.25 days, to be precise.

Our body can’t process protein properly. Even if you are drinking 50 grams of whey protein shake, you can bet that most of the protein will go into the toilet bowl.

Why shouldn’t you be drinking too much protein anyway?

Research has shown that drinking too much protein can also have a detrimental effect on your health.

So, why do protein manufacturers tell you that you need plenty of protein to get huge? Who the heck is stopping these guys?

These protein companies can market their products any way they want because the FDA doesn’t regulate supplements.

Bioptimizers recognize the lies protein manufacturers have been feeding the people, especially bodybuilders, and developed a product called Masszymes to help absorb protein efficiently.

Many Masszymes users report a positive experience and likely to keep using the product. As for me, I put in an auto shipped order every month.

And if you are worried if Masszymes won’t work on you, don’t be. Bioptimizers’ awesome guarantee will make this a win-win for you.

Bioptimizers offer the best guarantee on the market.
